Her gracious attitude exemplifies the spirit of the Flames team. \u201cWe\u2019ve got something special here,\u201d said Dave Bechler, athletic director. \u201cThe reporter noticed and commented on our team\u2019s attitude and spirit on the bench after a hard loss. That says a lot about our coaching staff and team. I\u2019m really proud of this season.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/bloximages.newyork1.vip.townnews.com\/dnronline.com\/content\/tncms\/assets\/v3\/editorial\/b\/7f\/b7fc3796-7798-11e9-99bd-13421c3e96d3\/5cdcf0b171032.video.mp4\">Watch the video interview with Caroline Hayes<\/a><\/p>\n<p><em>The following article by Jim Sacco appeared in the May 16, 2019 issue of the Daily News-Record<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>Izadi, Eagles End Flames\u2019 Season In VISAA Girls Soccer Quarterfinals<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>HARRISONBURG \u2014 Staring down the Howitzer leg of Eastern Mennonite junior Abby Stapleton on a one-on-one, Bella Izadi didn\u2019t blink.<\/p>\n<p>Instead, the freshman keeper for Fredericksburg Christian punched the shot away and watched her defense clear it back toward the other side of the pitch, pumping her fist as the Flames offense slowly turned and headed back to midfield.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThose were some shots,\u201d Izadi said.<\/p>\n<p>And from the feet of Eastern Mennonite players, those shots just kept coming. And Izadi, her black hair pulled back tight into a ponytail, turned them all away with a dizzying array of dives and jabs.<\/p>\n<p>Izadi finished with 17 saves, frustrated too many EMHS attacks to count with her guile and aggressive keeping \u2014 coming out to meet attackers instead of waiting for them to shoot \u2014 and the fifth-seeded Eagles, the runners-up out of the Delaney Athletic Conference, ousted No. 4 Eastern Mennonite with a 2-0 win in the Virginia Independent Schools Athletic Association girls soccer quarterfinals Wednesday in Harrisonburg.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe ran into a goalkeeper today that played lights out,\u201d said EMHS coach Andrew Gascho. \u201cWe created chances.
