This year\u2019s trip went to Tylerton on Smith Island, Maryland. Participants studied the ecology of multiple ecosystems, their connections to human populations throughout the watershed, and how what happens on land determines the health of the Chesapeake Bay.<\/p>\n<p>This year\u2019s Bay Trip included students from environmental science, organic chemistry, and AP biology classes and was led by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.easternmennonite.org\/facultystaff\/lee-good\/\">Lee Good<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.easternmennonite.org\/facultystaff\/kevin-carini\/\">Kevin Carini<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The trip ran September 28 to 30. They set and pulled crab pots, scraped grass beds for crabs and other invertebrates, watched marine TV, experienced \u201cmarsh mucking,\u201d identified species as they learned about biodiversity, created art, talked with local residents and, \u201cplayed games, games and more games,\u201d reports Mr. Good.<\/p>\n<p>Dexter Beyer, transportation coordinator and groundskeeper, drove the bus.<\/p>\n<p>Photos by Kevin Carini and Dex Byler.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>For more than 15 years, EMHS has taken upper level science students to study at the Chesapeake Bay each fall.
