Tyson, a Bible teacher and inspirational speaker from Broadway, Virginia, will be guest speaker for EMS\u2019 Spiritual Renewal Week Feb. 17-21 on the theme \u201c<em>Zotanos!<\/em>\u201d&quot;\u201d <\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cZotanos<\/em> is the Greek word for \u2018alive!\u2019,\u201d says Rebecca. Rebecca\u2019s passionate, creative and witty teachings weave profound Biblical truths in familiar characters and stories with practical application for a Zotanos relationship with God. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cReading Scripture in a fresh, creative perspective helps the Bible characters become real and alive to us,\u201d Rebecca says. \u201cAnd once we can connect on a deeper level with the character\u2019s emotions and circumstances, we can relate to them, apply the character\u2019s wisdom to our own life and have a more Zotanos relationship with God!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Rebecca began serving as a guest speaker and teacher during her college years. She earned a bachelor\u2019s degree in biblical education from James Madison University and a master\u2019s degree in theological studies and discipleship from Liberty Theological Seminary. Today, Rebecca is married to Ben Tyson and mother to two young daughters, Abby and Aimee. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cI felt a very real sense that God was calling me to empower and encourage \u2018alive\u2019 faith in young people,\u201d she recalls. Rebecca has taught summer staff and campers and has written Life Searches for Highland Retreat, she has spoken at area churches, was a guest speaker at a women\u2019s conference in New Zealand, and has held retreats, seminars and classes through her ministry, \u201cBecoming Royalty.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWatching young people realize that they can truly have a real, raw, daily, beautiful relationship with God is one of my favorite things to witness,\u201d she says. \u201cI thank God every time I get to be a part of that process.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>Visitors Welcome<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Guests are welcome to attend chapel any time, particularly during Spiritual Renewal Week. Area pastors are encouraged to attend on Monday and join a pastors\u2019 reception at 10 a.m. for an update from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.easternmennonite.org\/facultystaff\/paul-leaman\/\">Paul Leaman<\/a>, head of school, and tour of the new elementary building.<\/p>\n<p>Chapel runs from 9:27 to 9:57 a.m. every day but Tuesday, which runs from 9:47 to 10:17 a.m. Guests should park in front of the building at 801 Parkwood Drive, and enter through the main office to receive a visitor badge before proceeding to the auditorium.<\/p>\n<p>The sessions will be videotaped and made available at the end of the week on the school\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/channel\/UCrZ6-LmDtwj2-rbZ6QTTS8Q\">el canal de YouTube<\/a>.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Rebecca W.
