Students practiced their Spanish \u2014 including vocabulary that helped them develop skills in empathy \u2014 to write encouraging letters of hope and prayers to children on the border.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI thought this was a good way for them to learn some new vocabulary and learn more about an important issue,\u201d said <a href=\"https:\/\/www.easternmennonite.org\/facultystaff\/valeria-robles-eshleman\/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">Varleria Eshleman-Robles<\/a>, Spanish teacher. \u201cIt\u2019s a way to personalize something we hear in the news that seems so big and impossible to connect with individually.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Ms. E-R, as she is affectionately known, has endeared herself to the EMS community in her first year with her creative and energetic teaching.
