{"id":30203,"date":"2020-08-31T14:57:57","date_gmt":"2020-08-31T18:57:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.easternmennonite.org\/?p=30203"},"modified":"2021-09-01T14:37:15","modified_gmt":"2021-09-01T18:37:15","slug":"chapel-theme-to-invite-stories-of-belonging","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.easternmennonite.org\/es\/2020\/08\/chapel-theme-to-invite-stories-of-belonging\/","title":{"rendered":"Chapel Theme Invites Stories of Belonging"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\u201cThis is my story,\u201d is the theme for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.easternmennonite.org\/es\/about\/faith-community\/chapel\/\">servicio de capilla de 20 minutos<\/a> this year for students grades 6 to 12 at Eastern Mennonite School.<\/p>\n<p>Speakers are invited to share stories of times in their life when they felt they belonged, or did not belong. The theme developed over the summer as the school\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.easternmennonite.org\/es\/about\/peacebuilding\/racial-equity\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Grupo de Equidad Racial<\/a> met, and it connects with the school\u2019s vision to be a learning community \u201cwhere every student belongs, thrives, and lives God\u2019s call.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe recognize that not every student always feels like they belong here, or anywhere,\u201d says Andrea Wenger, director of advancement who is coordinating chapels this year. \u201cWe know people of all ages, in all stages of life struggle with belonging at times. We hope that hearing peoples\u2019 stories of belonging will help us all develop more empathy as well as curiosity to hear peoples\u2019 stories and help them feel welcome.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Chapel for grades 6 to 12 will take place by video or live stream in classrooms simultaneously each day this year due to COVID-19 precautions.<\/p>\n<p>Chapel speakers are needed throughout the year. Chapel messages can be submitted by video or taped in an interview format.
