{"id":37632,"date":"2021-04-22T10:10:34","date_gmt":"2021-04-22T14:10:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.easternmennonite.org\/?p=37632"},"modified":"2021-09-01T14:14:45","modified_gmt":"2021-09-01T18:14:45","slug":"slavery-singing-streams-among-themes-for-e-term-and-explore-week","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.easternmennonite.org\/es\/2021\/04\/slavery-singing-streams-among-themes-for-e-term-and-explore-week\/","title":{"rendered":"Slavery, Singing, Streams Among Themes for E-term and Explore Week"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<p>\u201cSlavery in Rockingham County,\u201d singing together for the first time, and learning from area streams were among the experiences offered to Eastern Mennonite School students in mid April.\u00a0The days were a COVID-adjusted and safe alternative to the usual week-long spring experiential learning offered for grades 6-12 known as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.easternmennonite.org\/es\/about\/experiential-learning\/e-term\/\">un per\u00edodo electr\u00f3nico<\/a> y <a href=\"https:\/\/www.easternmennonite.org\/es\/about\/experiential-learning\/explore-week\/\">Explore Week<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The group experiences included:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Advocacy and Affirmation with Shannon Roth<\/li>\n<li>Day Mountain Hikes with Paul Leaman and Jennifer Young<\/li>\n<li>Dungeons and Dragons with Malea Gascho<\/li>\n<li>Jodi Hertzler Fishing in the Valley with Andrew Gascho and Justin King<\/li>\n<li>Fly a plan and hike a cave with Mary Cranston<\/li>\n<li>Golf: Business and Service with Chad Seibert<\/li>\n<li>Jewelry Crafting with Anna Haarer and Julianne Ross<\/li>\n<li>Mountain Biking and Service with Sarah Mitch<\/li>\n<li>Online Ultimate Smash Brothers with Kevin Carini<\/li>\n<li>Service, Silence and Solitude with Curt Stutzman<\/li>\n<li>Touring Choir at Highland Retreat with Jared Stutzman, Christine Fairfield and Jesse Blosser<\/li>\n<li>6th and 7th grade at Riven Rock and Lake at Cedar Hill<\/li>\n<li>8th grade in downtown Harrisonburg and at Camp Brethren Woods<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div>\n<p>See photo captions for details on many of the groups.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are so grateful for the chance to learn to know each other and God\u2019s world in different settings, including the glorious springtime of the Shenandoah Valley,\u201d said <a href=\"https:\/\/www.easternmennonite.org\/facultystaff\/paul-leaman\/\">Paul Leaman<\/a>, head of school, who led two hikes in Shenandoah National Park.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>\u201cSlavery in Rockingham County,\u201d singing together for the first time, and learning from area streams were among the experiences offered to Eastern Mennonite School students in mid April.\u00a0The days were a COVID-adjusted and safe alternative to the usual week-long spring experiential learning offered for grades 6-12 known as E-term and Explore Week.
