All are welcome. A livestream of the presentation <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=RZragdkwFHA\">will be available here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou are Beloved,\u201d is the theme for Moore\u2019s talk, which will draw on her books, <em>Shalom Sistas, Living Wholeheartedly in a Broken Hearted World<\/em> (Herald Press 2018), and\u00a0 <em>Dear White Peacemakers: Dismantling Racism with Grit and Grace<\/em>\u00a0(Herald Press, 2021).<\/p>\n<p>The book draws on Jesus\u2019 Sermon on the Mount and personal stories from Moore\u2019s work as a pastor, mother, educator, and friend. The book is an invitation to White Christians to \u201ccome to the table and join the hard work of dismantling racism.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Copies of books will be for sale, and Moore will be available for a book signing, hosted by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mennomedia.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">MennoMedia<\/a>, in the auditorium prior to the 7 p.m. program. Doors will open at 6:30 p.m.<\/p>\n<p>The presentation is co-sponsored by MennoMedia and the <a href=\"https:\/\/virginiaconference.org\/about\/racial-justice-task-force\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Racial Justice Task Force of Virginia Mennonite Conference<\/a>. It is also sponsored through the EMS Kennel\/Charles Endowed Fund; which is used to host a guest Mennonite-Anabaptist historian, pastor, teacher, or other individual to speak to and interact with students each year. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.easternmennonite.org\/es\/kennel-charles-endowed-fund\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Read more<\/a> about the fund.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m excited to listen to and learn from Osheta Moore about our Anabaptist commitment to peacemaking, rooted in the teachings of Jesus in the Sermon on Mount, as it relates to the task of dismantling racism,\u201d says <a href=\"https:\/\/www.easternmennonite.org\/facultystaff\/ben-bixler\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Benjamin Bixler<\/a>, Bible teacher.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOsheta\u2019s invitational approach welcomes everyone to the table as a beloved child of God and her storytelling and deep theological thinking will be a treat for our students and the broader community.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>School Visit<\/strong><br \/>\nMoore\u2019s time at the school will include two chapel services for middle and high school students, a presentation with the K-5 weekly gathering, and time with students in classrooms, over lunch, and in one-on-one exchanges.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe believe Osheta\u2019s time with us will help us take another small step forward in our strategic efforts to fulfill our vision to be a place where every student can \u2018belong, thrive, and live God\u2019s call.\u2019\u201d says <a href=\"https:\/\/www.easternmennonite.org\/facultystaff\/paul-leaman\/\">Paul Leaman<\/a>, head of school.<\/p>\n<p>The March visit is an opportunity for Moore to learn to know the school community in advance of her commencement address on June 4, 2022 to the class of \u201822.
