{"id":51323,"date":"2022-10-19T10:23:58","date_gmt":"2022-10-19T14:23:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.easternmennonite.org\/?p=51323"},"modified":"2022-10-25T11:04:07","modified_gmt":"2022-10-25T15:04:07","slug":"emhs-to-stage-our-town","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.easternmennonite.org\/es\/2022\/10\/emhs-to-stage-our-town\/","title":{"rendered":"See and Celebrate \u201cOur Town\u201d at EMS"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Eastern Mennonite School Theater Department welcomes the public to its production of <em>Our Town<\/em>, by Thornton Wilder, October 28 and 29 at 7 p.m. and Sunday, October 30 at 3 p.m. The show features high school actors (list below), as well as Thaddeus Jackson, class of \u201920, in the role of Stage Manager, and EMS parent Jeremy Clark as Constable Warren.<\/p>\n<p>The play tells the story of the fictional American small town of Grover\u2019s Corners between 1901 and 1913 through the everyday lives of its citizens.\u00a0\u201cThe play is about life in a small town, about people and the arc of the lives they lead,\u201d says <a href=\"https:\/\/www.easternmennonite.org\/facultystaff\/mark-gornto\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Mark Gornto<\/a>, director. \u201cOur production focuses on the value of relationships and community,\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In an effort to make \u201cour production feel like our own,\u201d says Gornto, \u201cwe will feature student photography, and artwork in elements of the production.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The poster artwork for the play is from the mural \u201cOf the Valley,\u201d designed and painted by Rachel Holderman in collaboration with 2022 EMU New Student Orientation and incoming students. He also invites businesses to bring literature and other materials to add to lobby displays to showcase the diverse and vibrant life that \u201cmakes our town unique.\u201d Contact him at <a href=\"mailto:gorntom@easternmennonite.org\">gorntom@easternmennonite.org<\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Tickets<\/strong><br \/>\nThe show will be held in the school\u2019s auditorium at 801 Parkwood Drive, Harrisonburg. Doors open 30 minutes before show time, October 28 and 29 at 7 .m. and Sunday, October 30 at 3 p.m.<\/p>\n<p>Tickets are general admission (no reserved seating) and can be purchased before the show, or at the door. Adult cost is $10.
