{"id":60434,"date":"2024-01-29T14:57:27","date_gmt":"2024-01-29T19:57:27","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.easternmennonite.org\/?p=60434"},"modified":"2024-01-30T09:22:23","modified_gmt":"2024-01-30T14:22:23","slug":"highlighting-teacher-accomplishments","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.easternmennonite.org\/es\/2024\/01\/highlighting-teacher-accomplishments\/","title":{"rendered":"Highlighting Teacher Accomplishments"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">All of our EMS teachers guide and nurture our students on a daily basis.\u00a0 Recently we have had some standout moments that we would like to highlight.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Jennifer Young \u2013 PE 6th \u2013 9th grade, HS Drivers ed, SCO, Internship Program Supervisor<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Young, a Bridgewater Hall of Famer, led the Eagles basketball team statistically, earning All-American honors and securing a spot on the All-ODAC first team. In the 1997-98 season, Young\u2019s exceptional performance contributed to the team\u2019s national ranking and inclusion in the Bridgewater College Athletic Hall of Fame as a Team of Distinction. Jennifer Young, finishing her career as one of Bridgewater\u2019s top scorers, achieved notable records, including ranking third in career points and setting season records for points and 3-point shooting accuracy. For more information,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/bridgewatereagles.com\/news\/2024\/1\/8\/1997-98-womens-basketball-team-to-be-inducted-as-team-of-distinction-on-jan-20.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/bridgewatereagles.com\/news\/2024\/1\/8\/1997-98-womens-basketball-team-to-be-inducted-as-team-of-distinction-on-jan-20.aspx&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1706630842782000&amp;usg=AOvVaw2vQxArSULQH5DMS-eelW1P\">check out this article\u00a0<\/a>and see if you can find her in the picture!\u00a0 Young was also <a href=\"https:\/\/bridgewatereagles.com\/honors\/hall-of-fame\/jennifer-young\/89\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/bridgewatereagles.com\/honors\/hall-of-fame\/jennifer-young\/89&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1706630842782000&amp;usg=AOvVaw01TEIKZzv1Jht42df7CRPV\">individually inducted<\/a>\u00a0into the Hall of Fame in 2017.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Mark Gornto \u2013 Middle school english<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Gornto recently completed his work as co-writer and producer of a documentary-style production. It interrogates questions of power and differences through a series of interviews with Villanova University faculty experts and representatives from the Lenape Nation of Pennsylvania. The production is featured in a new university-wide course called the Race, Justice &amp; Dialogue Course at Villanova, Mark\u2019s alma mater. Commissioned by the Office of the President, the RJDC is part of the University\u2019s mission to support DEI learning while exploring the legacy of Villanova itself.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Rebecca Yutzy \u2013 Learning support coordinator, foreign languages teacher<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Rebecca has completed the state\u2019s requirements (and master\u2019s requirements) for her special education licensure.\u00a0 Yutzy\u2019s studies started at Bridgewater College with a BA in French K-12 education.\u00a0 Teaching French and Spanish at EMS since 1996 she obtained a Master\u2019s in Curriculum and Instruction from EMU in 2011, becoming the Middle School Coordinator at EMS. If that wasn\u2019t enough Yutzy completed a Special Education endorsement program through ODU from 2018-2019, balancing teaching and coordinator roles. Yutzy applied for the endorsement in special education and got a provisional license while teaching. This is a true feat of paperwork and red tape, but more importantly, will continue to help advocate for our students with special learning needs. Bravo, Rebecca!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Congratulations to Jennifer, Mark, and Rebecca on their remarkable achievements! EMS is proud to have them as part of our teaching staff.
