For EMS, that has meant a chance to review everything from daily schedules to sacred traditions.<\/p>\n<p>A lot of the work we\u2019ve done since March of 2020 has been painful. But as we move into 2021 and prepare the 2021-22 school calendar, we think deeply about a new era. We don\u2019t want to return to the way things were always done. We will build on what worked well, and use this opportunity to change.<\/p>\n<p><strong>We will continue:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>to strive toward our vision of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.easternmennonite.org\/about\/faith-community\/\">being a Christ-centered learning community<\/a> where every student belongs, thrives, and lives God\u2019s call.<\/li>\n<li>our interdisciplinary approach that emphasizes <a href=\"https:\/\/www.easternmennonite.org\/about\/experiential-learning\/\">experiential learning<\/a> and 1:1 mentoring that keeps social and emotional well-being in the forefront.<\/li>\n<li>our commitment to nurturing academically prepared, compassionate, service- minded students.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>With fresh vision, we will:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>make time to develop and implement innovative teaching practices that foster engagement in meaningful ways for students.<\/li>\n<li>explore creative ways to meet the high demand for an EMS education, particularly for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.easternmennonite.org\/academics\/elementary-school\/\">elementary age students<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>view curriculum and practices through a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.easternmennonite.org\/about\/peacebuilding\/racial-equity\/\">racial equity<\/a> lens, develop a more diverse faculty, and strive for a student body that better reflects the diversity of our area.<\/li>\n<li>continue our emphasis on peacebuilding and creation care.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>View updates throughout the year at\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.easternmennonite.org\/about\/news\/\">easternmennonite.org\/news<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A global pandemic \u2013 paired with societal awakening about equity and division \u2013 forces a once- in-a-generation opportunity\u00a0to evaluate what matters.
