Welcoming New Faculty and Staff!

Eastern Mennonite School is thrilled to announce the addition of several talented professionals to our faculty and staff. We invite the EMS community to warmly welcome these individuals as they join our school family.
Accounting Specialist: Kimberly Metzer
Kimberly Metzer joins EMS as an Accounting Specialist. With over 15 years of experience in accounts, bookkeeping, and employee benefits management, Kimberly previously worked with MennoMedia, Inc. She and her husband, who are “empty nesters,” reside in Broadway, VA. Kimberly will be collaborating with Chris Eberly to master the intricacies of accounts payable and receivable.
Band Teacher: Greg Conway
Greg Conway will take over as the new Band Teacher, assuming responsibilities for band instruction, auditorium support, and possibly some Academic Lab instruction. Greg holds both bachelor’s and master’s degrees in music education from James Madison University and has been a music teacher at Rockingham County Public Schools. He is certified in the Kodály method and will bring his expertise to our school. Greg, along with his wife and child, participates in activities at Ridgeway Mennonite Church.
EMES Music Teacher: Melodie May ’01
Melodie May will be teaching K-5 music this year at EMS. An alumna of EMHS, Melodie has a bachelor’s degree in elementary education with a minor in Church music from Messiah University. She previously taught music and math for six years at Community Christian School in Woodstock, developing their music program and curriculum using the Kodály method. Melodie, along with her husband Nathan and their three children—Noah, Grant, and Chloe—will be part of the EMS community this year.
Kindergarten Assistant: Julianne Ross ’01 (in a new role)!
Julianne Ross will transition her focus to support the Kindergarten program in the afternoons, while continuing to be librarian for EMMS/EMHS. Julianne holds multiple degrees, including a BA in early childhood education, ESL certification, and a master’s in library science. She is eager to engage with our youngest students and contribute to their growth. Julianne has three children attending EMS.
Choir Director: Dr. Francis Yun
The EMS Choir Director Selection Committee is delighted to announce Dr. Francis Yun as the new Choir Director. Dr. Yun’s impressive credentials include studies at prestigious institutions such as Boston University, Manhattan School of Music, The Juilliard School, and The University of Michigan. With extensive teaching experience at Montclair State University and other reputable schools, Dr. Yun is known for fostering a passion for music and choral excellence among students. EMS is preparing for a smooth transition as Dr. Yun relocates, with interim support in place until his arrival.
We are blessed by the exceptional talent and dedication of these new members and are excited for the vibrant contributions they will bring to EMS. Under the leadership of Maria Lorcas (Strings), Greg Conway (Band), and Dr. Francis Yun (Choir), our students are set to experience an enriching musical journey!
