Read with us
At EMS, we value reading. We take pride in our students’ love of reading and the variety of intentional subjects they engage as they move throughout their time at EMS. From the classics to modern mysteries, and yes, even the occasional graphic novel, our students are voracious readers and we are here for it.
It’s more important now than ever for our parenting community to engage in continuous learning and discussions, too. Particularly when it comes to the complexities of parenting. Communities thrive on the shared knowledge, language and experiences, and one way we have been collectiving community wisdom is through reading and dialogue. This is our third year with Fireplace Bookclubs for parents and guardians. This winter and spring, we invite you to join us! Fireplace Book Club—a gathering designed to support parents and guardians on their journey.
Reading, especially experts in their fields, is vital as it allows us to deepen our understanding and broaden our perspectives.
Our Spring and Winder Book Selections are:
Good Inside
by Dr. Becky Kennedy
The Emotional Lives of Teenagers by Lisa DeMour, PhD, offer invaluable insights into parenting challenges.
Dr. Kennedy, known as the “millennial parenting whisperer,” provides real-life tools to help parents feel more connected and calm. Dr. DeMour’s work sheds light on the emotional complexities faced by teenagers today, equipping parents with practical strategies to support their children.
The Fireplace Book Club is more than just a reading group; it’s a community space where we can meet to share insights, learn from one another, and discuss how to navigate the inevitable ups and downs of parenting. Some of us may find ourselves re-parenting as we parent our own children, while others may have much to learn or teach. And yes, some may simply join for the camaraderie—or even the snacks!
Whatever your reason, participating in these discussions is a step towards personal growth and EMS community building. It’s an opportunity to re-evaluate our practices, challenge our assumptions, and support one another in becoming better parents and individuals. We hope you consider joining us this winter and spring for these enriching sessions, whether you’re reading or listening along at home.
Let’s embrace the power of reading and conversation to grow, learn, and connect together. Your voice and presence are valuable to us, and we look forward to embarking on this journey with you.
RSVP today and be a part of our community of learners and leaders.
