Eastern Mennonite School, deeply rooted in its mission to embody the love of Jesus and foster a thriving community, is on the lookout for a new Choir Director. This pivotal role is essential to our commitment to academic excellence, faith, and compassionate service, as we strive to nurture a learning environment where every student belongs and flourishes.

Our school takes pride in creating inclusive spaces that honor each individual’s voice and perspectives, promoting peace, equity, and justice. The Choir Director will play a crucial role in bringing our vision to life through music, guiding our students from grades 6 to 12 in a comprehensive choral program. This includes leading courses such as Middle School Chorale, High School Concert and Touring Choirs, and the audition-based Chamber Choir, among others.

The successful candidate will be a role model for students, demonstrating compassion and integrity in all interactions. They will collaborate effectively with other music educators and school teams, contributing to a positive culture of worship and musical excellence. HS Principal Justin King noted, “We remain steadfast in our commitment to excellent music education programs, and have immediately begun a search for our next choir director. We also want to continue the exciting programmatic experiences (like Touring Choir, Apollo5, and the Europe Trip) that are planned for the 25-26 school year.”

Key responsibilities include developing curriculums, integrating faith into classroom activities, and ensuring open communication with parents. Additionally, the Choir Director will engage in professional development, staying at the forefront of educational practices to enhance the choral program.

Applicants should possess a Bachelor’s Degree in music or a related field, with a Master’s Degree preferred. Experience in directing choirs and eligibility for certification in Virginia are essential. The role demands excellent interpersonal skills and a commitment to extended hours during busy performance seasons.
