Fan the Flame Online: Closed
Our auction is now closed. Thank you for joining!
Thank you to all of the participants who made our auction a success, raising $24,232 to renovate our strings room!
If you missed the auction, you can still be part of the strings room renovation which serves more than 60 students and is home to many instruments. Click here to make a donation.
A spruce-up will protect the instruments and create an inviting space for learning music! Moisture control is the top priority for the safety of the instruments - as well as the health of our students and teachers. Other upgrades include fresh paint, new carpet, and modern lighting fixtures to replicate natural light. If we fully fund this project, the support will be used for other needs in the performing arts program at EMS, such as a new stage for the auditorium. Learn more!
More about the renovation
The videos below tell more of the strings room story. Left, see Maria Archer, K-8 principal; Maria Lorcas, strings teacher and orchestra director; and Miriam Rhodes '22, perform a tango, La Cumparsita, by Rodriguez/ Mc Lean. They performed in our band room because the piano in the strings room has sticky keys due to moisture control issues.
Second, Miriam Rhodes '22 practices the first movement of Haydn’s concerto no. 2 in G major in the strings room.
Thanks to our generous sponsors!
