BA in Music Education from Temple University
M.Ed. from Eastern Mennonite University. Maria has been with EMES since it began in 2005. Prior to that she taught at Hunter McGuire in Staunton, Virginia, and at a charter school in Philadelphia. She is a certified Title IX investigator through Institutional Compliance Solutions K-12 Title IX training.
2023 Free Innovation award winner through VAIS.
Interests
I enjoy spending time with my three grown daughters and their families (especially my grandchildren), playing the piano, gardening, crocheting, and watching baseball.

My husband and I have three children, Olivia, Natalie (EMHS class of '13), and Gabriela (EMHS class of '16). I have 3 grandchildren and 2 on the way.
I'm inspired by...
I love coming to work each day and learning from the students at EMES. They are creative thinkers; they ask great questions; and they take care of each other. They teach me new ways to look at the world.
