Model UN Joins National Conference
The EMS Model UN delegation took part in 59th iteration of the North American Invitational Model United Nations, held at the Washington Hilton Feb. 17-20 under the leadership of Shannon Roth, US history and government teacher.
“My committee became like a family as we attempted to solve the issue of Filipino independence from the United States,” says Abby Garber ’23, of the experience.
“I felt like I gained a wonderful group of friends and many new skills as we navigated challenging waters together.”
The EMS group visited the Embassy of Portugal, Washington D.C. and heard from diplomats and cultural attachés.
“Being able to explore our nation’s capital with other youth who are passionate about diplomacy and problem-solving is an experience I’ll never forget,” concludes Garber, with gratitude to Ms. Roth and other adults on the trip.
