The Eduring Spirit of Connection: HOCO 2026

The essence of homecoming lies in those initial moments of reunion, where heartfelt hugs, enthusiastic shouts, and joyful exclamations of “You came!” fill the air. Even without knowing the backstories, anyone can feel the warmth of these connections. While EMS has changed over the years, the enduring spirit of connection remains unchanged. Often, people humorously refer to playing the “Mennonite game,” and there’s a reason for it—we all yearn to belong, find meaning, and celebrate our shared experiences. This homecoming weekend was a beautiful testament to that spirit.
It was a delight to witness past and present faces mingling and creating new memories. Former classmates, faculty, and staff reunited amidst smiles and laughter, while the current K-12 community made even stronger bonds through cheering for our sports teams, new traditions, and celebrated each other.
Chapel Highlights

Rev. Heather Rodrigues with classmate Jodi Hertzler
Rev. Heather Rodrigues ’91 brought inspiration to Friday’s chapel, spending time chatting with students and staff over lunch. She also spent time with our Bible classes answering their questions and learning a little more about pastoring as a profession, calling, and what it means to be Metho-Mennonite as Heather is a Methodist Pastor with Mennonite Roots. Don’t miss the chapel video to hear part of Heather’s story.
Pep Rally Excitement
Grades K-12 gathered for a spirited pep rally, always a highlight.
Class Reunions

Class of 1971
Classes ending in 6 and 1 celebrated their reunions, providing a wonderful opportunity to reconnect, meet families, celebrate achievements, and encourage one another. See the gallery for glimpses of these joyful moments!
Picnic Fun
The EMES Gathering Space was alive with music from Randy Harry ’78 and words from Head of School, Paul Leaman. Former faculty and staff enjoyed a special reserved spot to catch up and reminisce. It was wonderful to see the great conversation over great food and so many lovely stories.

Honored Alumni
Saturday Alumni Breakfast
The alumni celebration featured Dr. Sam Showalter ’61, Rev. Heather Rodrigues ’91, and Nathan May ’01, friends and families who shared inspiring stories from their journeys since high school. Nathan also blessed us with a beautiful hymn, a lovely moment to cap off the morning.
Sports Moments
Wildfire, our student cheering group showed up at our volleyball and soccer games, we celebrated fall athletics seniors and had a great time cheering on our flames!
